What is the Teaching Studio?

We believe establishing healthy eating habits begins in the kitchen.   The Purposeful Eats Teaching Studio offers a variety of classes for adults and students to explore the ‘what’ and ‘why’ behind food choices and then implement the ‘how’ in making recipes and dishes.  In our kitchen, recipes are selected according to our philosophy of using nutrient-dense ingredients that are properly prepared, making healthy and delicious synonymous.   We specialize in supporting those with food restrictions by focusing on gluten free recipes with dairy free alternatives.
Our classes allow the novice to gain cooking knowledge and confidence, no matter what age or stage of life while allowing the seasoned cook to expand their knowledge further.

What is an in-person class like?

Our classes are usually 1 ½ – 3 hours long. You’ll be assigned to a workstation set up with the ingredients and equipment needed for your part in creating the recipe in that class. You may work individually or in pairs (depending on the menu) to complete the meal, following the directions from our chef instructors. When the cooking is finished, you’ll sit down to enjoy what you’ve made.

Your ticket includes hands-on instructions from our chefs, including food education and cooking tips.

You’ll enjoy a tasting of all the food prepared in the class, plus a copy of all the recipes, and leftovers to take home.

What is a virtual class like?

These classes are held via Zoom allowing participants to join with audio or audio and video.  (The audio and video option is highly encouraged.)   Our chef instructors will create the recipe and offer food education and cooking tips.  Guests are welcome you to unmute and ask questions any time.  We have several camera angles allow you to easily follow along.   The class is usually 1-1 ½ hours long and your ticket also includes the ingredient and equipment list and recipes.

What are you doing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in an in-person class?

It is our first priority to keep our guests and staff safe. All guests are required to wear masks while not actively eating or drinking. Workstations are properly placed to ensure 6’ distancing between guests who are not enrolled in class together. Proper hand washing and surface sanitation is strictly followed. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Are you able to accommodate my food allergy or dietary restriction?

Each class should include information about which dietary restrictions we can accommodate. Please register for classes that best supports your needs. For in-person classes we require 2-week minimum advance notice to accommodate a food allergy or dietary restriction. If you have questions, please contact us so we can best help guide you to the right class. In a Virtual Classes, our chef instructors will offer substitution suggestions, however altered recipes or ingredient kids will not be accommodated.

How many people are in each class?

Most of our in-person classes range between 10-16 people. Class size will be adjusted to ensure proper social distancing practices.
